There’s a good reason why Michael Bolton, Barry Manilow, Bobby Caldwell and Randy Crawford have called upon jazz great Michael Lington: this saxophonist extraordinaire plays with soul.
Michael visited Westone Laboratories recently and shared details about his new CD, Soul Appeal, that will be released April 8th. The entire album was recorded in two days at Sunset Sound in Los Angeles under the helm of veteran R&B/pop producer Barry Eastmond and engineer Ray Bardani. Included on the album are many of Michael’s favorite musicians, including Ray Parker, Jr., Lenny Castro, Freddy Washington, Teddy Campbell, Shedrick Mitchell and Paul Jackson, Jr.
Songs featured on the new CD include Taking Off, Manhattan Nights, Memphis Soul Stew and Follow Your Heart, and Michael will be touring the country starting March 1st. Catch him at the Arizona Jazz Festival at Arizona Grand Resort and Spa in Phoenix on March 8, Spaghettini Jazz Club in Seal Beach, CA on April 12th, or at the Napa Valley Jazz Getaway June 11 – 14. Check out Michael’s entire concert schedule and sign up to receive his newsletter with other exciting news and the latest tour dates.
Michael has quite an impressive list of past gigs, including the the wedding reception of Crown Prince Frederik (the future king of Denmark!), Royal Albert Hall in London and at the Kuwait Embassy where he performed for another sax player: former President Bill Clinton. In addition to performing and recording, Michael keeps busy with his own boutique line of Paso Robles wines, Lington Wines, and also manages his own cigar company.
