Colorado is home to Westone Audio, where you’ll find the best in-ear musician monitors and in-ear headphones in the world.  Music is a big part of the mile-high lifestyle so it makes sense that some of the best concert venues in America – and world – are here and many of this year’s hottest bands will be playing in Denver and surrounding cities in upcoming months. Here are a few must-see Rocky Mountain venues and concerts this summer:

Red Rocks Amphitheatre was listed #1 on the Rolling Stone’s ‘Best Amphitheaters in America’ list. If you haven’t attended a concert at Red Rocks be sure to put it at the top of your own to-do list. The venue sits 6,450 feet above sea level and has breathtaking views of Colorado. About a month ago The Fray performed ‘How to Save a Life’ at Red Rocks (video above) and lead singer Isaac Slade (who wears Westone in-ear monitors) mentioned that this is the best city to play in. Of course, The Fray is from Denver, Colorado so they may be a bit biased.

On April 20th Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa will be performing at Red Rocks Amphitheatre at 7:30 pm and Westone endorsed artists Toby Mac and Skillet will be performing on May 4th at 6 pm. Many more fantastic concerts are scheduled for this spring and summer so be sure to check out the Red Rocks official concert calendar and get your tickets soon as shows here do sell out.

Lady Antebellum_Westone_Audio_Concert_Blog_2014

Another event to put on your calendar is the 2014 Country Jam. The concert will take place from June 19-22 in Grand Junction, Colorado. Lady Antebellum (another band that wears Westone IEMs), Eric Church, and Joe Nichols are on the lineup during the 4 day event and new artists including Kelly Pickler are being added daily. Follow Country Jam on twitter to stay up to date on all of the latest news. On-site camping is available which is great for anyone who wants to attend more than one day and get the full experience. Buy your tickets early!

Country music fans also have Bands in the Backyard the weekend of June 19th taking place in Pueblo, Colorado, just off of Hwy 50. The Outpost Harley Davidson Stage will feature Blackjack Billy, Casey Donahue Band and Uncle Kracker on Friday. Saturday you’ll see Chase Rice, Thomas Rhett and Jake Owen perform. Get your tickets this week and reserve a camping space or hotel room ASAP if you’re spending the night.

Westone endorsed artist YB is one of the most wildly popular bands in South Korea and the band is quickly gaining popularity around the world. YB (also known as Yoonband or Yoon Do Hyun Band) consists of 5 members, Yoon Do Hyun, Huh Joon, Kim Jin Won, Park Tae Hee, and Scott Hellowell. The band wears Westone in-ear monitors on stage.

YB has released nine albums and one DVD to date and has toured around the world performing in Asia, Europe and North America. These international rock stars have already accomplished so much, including the “Best Music Award” from top radio stations in South Korea and winning the title of “Best Musician” due to their immensely successful concerts and albums.

YB was recently named “Korea’s Biggest Rock Band” by the United States Revolver magazine. The acoustic version of their first English language single, “Cigarette Girl” caught the attention of the magazine and to be mentioned by Revolver is a great honor for any band in the industry. For those who are not familiar with the magazine, Revolver releases 2 issues a month and each magazine features only the best artists in the rock and heavy metal scene.

On the YB’s official website, lead singer Yoon Do Hyun reflects on their success in 2013 and discusses what is in store for them in the coming year. He says, “What kind of year will 2014 be for me and YB? There is one thing that I can do. Just do the best in every single moment.” That is a great mentality for any artist, and Westone is proud to support YB along their journey.

Olympia - Top 10 Concert Venues in Paris

If you’re a world traveler or a local who enjoys a great concert, these concert venues in Paris are a must-see. Unfortunately I was not able to visit Paris to experience these concert venues in person, but I have compiled a list of top concert venues according to Party Earth Reviewers. (Party Earth consists of a team of reviewers who recommend things to do in major U.S. and European Cities.)

1. Olympia
28 Boulevard des Capucines
75009 Paris
Website: http://www.en.olympiahall.com/

The oldest Parisian music hall that is still active, Olympia was founded in 1888 by the creator of the Moulin Rouge. Music producer and songwriter Bruno Coquatrix took over the music hall in 1954, then Europe’s biggest. He renovated it and brought megastars on stage. French performers at the Olympia included Barbara, Dalida, Édith Piaf, Yves Montand, Johnny Hallyday, and Georges Brassens. International acts like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones also played here. More recent concerts at Olympia include Lady Gaga, Justice, Lenny Kravitz, and Vanessa Paradis. A modern theater with orchestra seating and a balcony, Olympia has a max capacity of nearly 2,000.

2. La Flèche d’Or
102 Bis Rue Bagnolet
75020 Paris
Website: http://www.flechedor.fr/
This industrial-looking concert and clubbing venue, complete with a restaurant, is located in Paris’ gritty-cool 20th arrondissement. Back in the 1990s, alumni from the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris transformed former Charonne train station, part of the now-defunct Petite Ceinture railway line, into the fantastic Flèche d’Or of today. A glass wall in the restaurant looks out onto the rusty railway tracks. The club’s namesake is the speedy Flèche d’Or train – or the Golden Arrow, as the Brits called it – that ran daily between Paris and London via ferry from 1926 to 1972. The Flèche d’Or’s largely indie-rock lineup also offers folk and pop concerts as well as clubbing nights featuring hip-hop and electro. Past concerts at the Flèche d’Or include Ben Kweller, First Aid Kit, and Grimes.

3. La Maroquinerie
23 Rue Boyer
75020 Paris
Website: www.lamaroquinerie.fr/

As its name indicates, La Maroquinerie – today a restaurant/bar and music venue – was once a leather workshop. Founded in 1997, the pit-like concert space has standing room for 500. Past performances at La Maroquinerie include Kim Gordon, I’m From Barcelona, RJD2, and concerts sponsored by music and culture magazine Les Inrockuptibles.
The spacious restaurant with a leafy outdoor terrace regularly exhibits art and hosts lectures and conferences. In an area buzzing with New Wave bars and nocturnal life, La Maroquinerie is neighbor to La Bellevilloise, another small-scale, popular indie concert venue in Paris.

4. Le Trianon
80 Boulevard Rochechouart
75018 Paris
Website: http://www.letrianon.fr/

Le Trianon theater, a historical monument steps from Pigalle, was built at the end of the 19th century and entirely restored in 2010. Concerts at Le Trianon vary from classic orchestras to French singers and international acts. Past performers at Le Trianon include Carla Bruni, Julien Doré, Gonzales, Moriarity, M.I.A., Goldfrapp, Rufus Rainwright, Macy Gray, and the Scissor Sisters. With two balconies and orchestra seating, the gorgeous, classical theater can accommodate up to 1,000 people. Le Trianon’s other two principle spaces include the ballroom – with ornate moldings and a zinc bar – and Jardin d’Hiver (a more alternative space, combining art nouveau with industrial decorative themes).

Le Cigale - Westone Top 10 Concert Venues in Paris

5. La Cigale
120 Boulevard de Rochechouart
75018 Paris
Website: http://www.lacigale.fr/en/

An innovative concert hall located next to La Boule Noire in Pigalle, La Cigale has been around since 1887. As a cabaret in its early years, La Cigale hosted performers like Maurice Chevalier, Max Linder, Mistinguett, and Jean Cocteau held avant-garde soirées.
In the 1940s, La Cigale metamorphosed into a popular cinema, specializing in kung fu flicks in the ’70s and later in X-rated films. Jacques Renault and Fabrice Coat, confounders of legendary nightclub Les Bains Douches, took over La Cigale in the late ’80s. Philippe Starck redecorated the interior, and it reopened in 1987. French punk rock group Les Rita Mitsouko played the inaugural show. Since then, performers at La Cigale have included French stars like Johnny Hallyday, Noir Désir, and Les Wampas as well as international acts like Kylie Minogue, Adele, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Placebo. Les Inrockuptibles’ music fest, theatrical sketches, and runway shows by Jean-Paul Gaultier and Comme des Garçons have also taken place at La Cigale. The venue features a flat, white exterior with high porthole windows and a traditional, velvety red theater interior. It can accommodate 900 people sitting or 1,500 standing.

Le Zenith De Paris - Westone Top 10 Concert Venues in Paris Blog
6. Le Zenith De Paris
211 Avenue Jean Jaurès
75019 Paris
Website: http://www.zenith-paris.com/pages/accueil/bienvenue.html

One of the biggest Parisian concert halls, Le Zénith is located along the Ourcq Canal and stands out from other venues in Parc de la Villette thanks to its distinctive red, cubic exterior. Built in 1983 as an initiative of Jack Lang, Minister of Culture at the time, Le Zénith de Paris was conceived as a temporary structure meant to be dismantled three years later. But, much like the Eiffel Tower, it remains standing today thanks to its popularity. In fact, 15 Zéniths have since cropped up throughout France, from Montpellier to Strasborg and Caen. Inside the small Parisian arena with a capacity of 6,300, hawkers walk through the stands selling baguette sandwiches. Past concerts at Le Zénith de Paris include French names like Serge Gainsbourg, Renaud, Zaxie, Shy’m, and David Guetta as well as international performers like Busta Rhymes, Bruce Springsteen, Marilyn Manson, Nicki Minaj, Feist, The Who, Britney Spears, and The Strokes.

7. Le Divan du Monde
75 Rue des Martyrs
75018 Paris
Website: http://www.divandumonde.com/

Located in edgy Pigalle, Le Divan du Monde is a uniquely French music club with a convivial ambiance and bustling with colorful characters, good music, and swinging dance moves. One of the city’s oldest clubs, the two-level space consists of a stage, dance floor, and bar on the first floor and additional tables and seating upstairs, all decked out in an updated gothic aesthetic featuring a dark red-and-black décor. The club’s eclectic roster of performers and events, which includes everything from indie and rock bands to poetry slams, attracts an urban clientele of hipsters and alternative types. On most nights, live performers entertain patrons earlier in the evening, while after 11pm, the scene invariably transforms from concert hall to night club, with a DJ spinning tunes for the rambunctious crowd on the dance floor.

8. Le Forum (Vaureal)
102 Boulevard de l’Oise
95490 Vauréal
Website: www.leforum-vaureal.fr/

Le Forum is a performance and events hall that hosts live music, bands, variety shows, exhibitions, festivals and other cultural events. Past performances at Le Forum de Vauréal include such acts as, the Abyssinians, Ugly Kid Joe, Lee “Scratch” Perry, the Mad Professor and Fishbone. Capacity at le Forum Vauréal is 450.

9. La Boule Noire
118 Boulevard de Rochechouart
75018 Paris
Website: http://www.laboule-noire.fr/

Once known as one of Pigalle’s most famous cabarets, this small concert venue, with a capacity for 100, is known today among Parisians for its unusual concerts. La Boule Noire’s raison d’être: is to expose the public to budding talents. Accordingly, musical programming features youthful sounds of rock, pop, French variety, and many other genres. Past concerts at La Boule Noire include Interpol, Metallica, The Kills, Cat Power, and The Dresden Dolls. La Boule Noire is a punky, festive spot, great for chatting up performers after their shows. Like its bands, La Boule Noire’s décor is eclectic with Art Deco chandeliers and murals of singers painted in the 1970s.

It’s inspiring to see such raw talent come from our beautiful state of Colorado. Denver-based Flobots are one of the most creative, intelligent groups touring the world these days, and Westone is proud to endorse these artists who wear our in ear monitors. The band isn’t defined by one genre, instead melding rock and hip hop into a musical sensation. Jamie “Jonny 5” Laurie recently commented, “I’ve been using Westone plugs my whole career and they’ve never let me down!”

Flobots - Westone Endorsed Artist

Jamie “Jonny 5” Laurie (lead vocals), Stephen “Brer Rabbit” Brackett (lead vocals), Jesse Walker (bass guitar), Kenny “KennyO” Ortiz (drums), and Mackenzie Gault (viola, vocals) collectively are the Flobots.  The band hit it big when they won a contest on 93.3 KTCL in Denver. Their album Fight with Tools, released in 2007, featured their single “Handlebars” which caught the attention of radio stations and fans across America, and the video has nearly 14 million YouTube views. (Over 18 million views pre-Vevo!) Their most recent album features the hit song “The Circle in the Square.”

Other notable accolades for Flobots include a feature on the UK annual disc Now That’s What I Call Music! 71 as well as inclusion on the MIT Songwriting Club – Songs from the Institute, Vol. 1 and an appearance on the popular Audition video game soundtrack.

Fun Fact: Jamie “Jonny 5” Laurie is the owner of Denver’s Smallest Dog, a title that he won at the county fair. Cheeto is a teacup chihuahua weighing at just 2 lbs 8-10 oz (depending on his diet and self control). Below is a photo of Jonny 5 and his adorable sidekick. Cheeto is now on instagram!
